for someone with decision problems...

I really don't deal with change well, in fact it upsets me a lot. Ridiculous, but I can't help it.

i forgot to mention...

Harry Potter, book 6, comes out today. Tonight at midnight that is. I am almost crazy enough to go and get it then...except not. I am very excited though. They better not sell out, I want that book this weekend.

Check this out: I'm a gryffindor.

my delicious recipe

I am always at a loss with what to do with the bottom of a bag of tortilla chips, all those crushed chips, no matter how hard you try to buy an uncrushed bag, there are inevitably little tiny pieces of crushed chips in the bag. I hate being wasteful, but I do throw that out a lot...they're totally useless, you can't scoop anything on them.

So, after drinking a couple beers last night and realizing I was hungry after only eating a salad for dinner, I decided to concoct something to do with them. I looked online for a suggestion, but the only search result google brought up was way out there (Mexican Poor Man's Dish - something about eggs and crushed chips and sour cream - weird). In retrospect, it was probably not very weird at all. But with no further ado, I bring you Antonia's Mexican Cereal:

1 end of a bag of Tortilla Chips - aka: stupid crushed pieces
1 container of Queso dip - not that cheap stuff, get good authentic mexican cheese dip

Spoon some of that dip, whatever you deem appropriate onto the chips, melt in the microwave for 30 seconds, don't want the chips gross, just long enough to melt that cheese (which is made for melting so it really doesn't take long).

Pop that out and you've got you some good spicy, salty, cheesy mexican cereal. Yum. Hey, I thought it was delicious.

Maybe I'll try it with margaritas next time. ;)

comedians and such

I love Demetri Martin. Almost as much as I love Dane Cook. Or maybe differently.

Not as much as I loved Mitch Hedburg, but he was different. And now he's dead. A damn shame.

In an hour or so I plan to take a bath in my garden tub. This will be the first time I've taken a bath and not showered in probably 5 or 6 years at least, maybe longer. Not that I need to be cleaned, I have already showered today, I just feel like taking a damn bath. And I am going to put destressing mint bath gel in it, which is going to be the shit. I will feel awesome and relaxed and want to sleep immediately.

In only 15 hours the new Harry Potter book will be out. Its going to be one of the best days in the past year. Really. I am mucho mucho excited. Insanely excited. I can't fucking wait. If I cared less about standing in lines and crowds and shit, I would be going to get that book at midnight tomorrow. But I am definitely not. I will probably die if the bookstores somehow sell out on Saturday. I have faith they understand the Harry craze and there are millions and millions and millions of copies out there already.

Also, Charlie and the Chocolate factory comes out tomorrow. Its like this awesome, fun day for children's tales. Woohoo! Hopefully I will get to see that movie this weekend too.

Great, Goodnight, Goodbye!

miss s.b. miller

Despite the fact that I just generally don't get along with girls that great...I feel I need some single girlfriends, not a lot, gawd, lord knows I couldn't handle a lot, but one or two maybe. Mostly this thinking is all prompted by the fact that I miss Sarah. I know its been nearly a year now, but I wish she were around and not hundreds of miles away. I miss getting coffee with her. I miss shopping and teasing her about her sense of style. I miss having sex & the city marathons and drinking fancy cocktails. I miss getting drunk and talking about silly/kinky/weird things. I miss my girl Sarah. :(

I wish she'd gotten into UNC Law School. Bleh.

mmmmmm...addictions

Addicted to coffee. Yes I am. Got to love a tasty, caffeinated beverage with no calories. Without my 2-3 cups of coffee weekday mornings I assure everyone that I would a hell of a lot grumpier and much slower at my work. Now, if I can just somehow get Becky to make really GOOD coffee in the mornings I would be jumping off the walls (with excitement that is). ;)

Ciao!

this is what happens when i'm bored at work

Yes. REALLY bored...you'll see:

Your Birthdate: September 9

Your birth on the 9th day of the month adds a tone of idealism and humanitarianism to your nature.

You become one who can work easily with people because you are broadminded, tolerant and generous.

You are ever sensitive to others' needs and feelings, and you are very sympathetic and compassionate.

Your feeling run deep and you often find yourself in dramatically charged situations.

This 9 energy always tends to give more that it gets.
What Does Your Birth Date Mean?

*Definitely sounds kind of like me...

Your Sexy Brazilian Name Is

Tâmira Fernandes

*Haha :)

Your Virgo Drinking Style

Hey brainiac, you are compelled to impose order onto your bender.
Your famously fussy quest for purity could lead to drinking less than other signs, sure...
But it could also lead to drinking booze neatly (like sucking down organic wine or having extreme brand loyalty).
You rarely get fully shellacked -- but, oh, when you do!

Virgo's controlled by the intellect, but there's an unbridled beast lurking within, and they let it loose when walloped. It's dead sexy (and surprisingly unsloppy). As one Virgo friend used to declare, "I'm going to drink myself into a low level of intelligence tonight." A toast to the subgenius IQ!
Your Signature Cocktails
Many Virgos prefer clear, simple, untreacly drinks like vodka tonic or a real margarita, though you can be found drinking anything from unflinchingly downing Cuervo straight to smirkingly ordering a dirty virgin. You also tend to like bitter, low-alk guzzles like Campari and soda. However, you rarely change your signature drink once you've found it.

*Hints of truth to that one: Extreme brand loyatly, LOVE the margaritas, and yes, sometimes you'll find me unflinchingly downing Cuervo straight. Oh, and damn right that I'm dead sexy and surprisingly unsloppy. ;)

You Are 33 Years Old

33

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

*Interesting...dammit. I'm 21!!! Young at heart for life...stupid online quizzes.

Your Daddy Is Johnny Depp

What You Call Him: Pa
Why You Love Him: He's the Mack Daddy

*MMM, yeah...I'll take me some of that. ;)

You are dreamy, peaceful, and young at heart.
Optimistic and caring, you tend to see the best in people.
You tend to be always smiling - and making others smile.

You are shy and intelligent... and a very hard worker.
You're also funny, but many people don't see your funny side.
Your subtle dry humor leaves your close friends in stitches.

*This is my favorite test result. Very true. And see...I told you I was young at heart!

happy 4th!

Fourth of July, and its really not super nice. Although I suppose its not raining and the sun has come out a few times today. It has definitely been a nice relaxing day though, and you have to love it being a holiday on a Monday. 4 day workweek, yay... Happy America Day everyone! ;)

Went to see War of the Worlds this afternoon, after grabbing some lunch and getting groceries for Travis to make his super awesome italian wedding soup. I've never had it, I am kind of excited to try it as it sounds pretty damn good from the ingredient list. Plus the chicken stock will have been made from my awesome beer can chicken I cooked up yesterday. (War of the Worlds was ok, not a waste of time, but not stellar at all. Just your basic it-might-be-the-end-of-the-world blockbuster movie, just FYI).

As for those beer can chickens, thats a good story:

Yesterday there was a cookout for 4th of July, since I did not have to work, but half the cookout participants did work 1-5pm, I was put in charge of preparing 2 whole chickens and side dish for the pre-4th of July grilling fest. I have never cooked and dealt with an entire raw chicken before, nevermind 2. Thankfully Sir Oakes was awesome about getting the guts out of the chickens and washing them up before leaving me to prepare the feast. After inserting beer cans into the bottom of the chickens and trying desperately for about 10 minutes to get both of them to stand up on the drip pan properly, I got them onto the heated grill. In the process, the chickens fell over and spilled half the beer, which I tried to mop out of the pan, but had to leave some in there. I felt pretty proud of myself for setting that all up and getting the chicken-cooking on its way. Thankfully Paul and Mercedes came to hang out early, because when the wood chips caught on fire, they managed to set the beer in the bottom of the pan on fire, and lord knows I had no idea how to put out a grease fire. Mr Chemistry himself (Paul) knew to put salt on it. So after charring only a tiny bit of the side of one of the chickens, no more disasters. Whew. And when the partiers got here and the chickens were done, not to mention my smashed parmesan potatoes (recipe courtesy of Giada Di Laurentis, thanks FoodTV!), everything tasted great. The chickens definitely rivaled some of the best chicken I, or any of us, had ever eaten. At least I would like to think so, but judging by the comments I got, I think the beer can chicken was very popular.

Well. That seems like a good amount of writing on the 4th of July. Happy holiday everyone, be safe!!!
